Beauty Salon Community Health Event Set for March 10

 Free Events to feature Blood Pressure Self Screenings; Healthy Living Giveaways

Millennium Care Manager Pharmacist also on hand   


Buffalo, N.Y. – Millennium Collaborative Care, in partnership with Erie Niagara Area Health Education Center (ENAHEC), Buffalo-based church organizations and a popular Main St. salon will be holding ‘Working Together Towards Better Health’ Faith-Based Community Health & Wellness Events and a “Beauty Salon Community Health Event” Feb. 24; March 10; and April 14 at the following locations:

  • Sat., Feb. 24 from 11 AM – 2 PM

  • Friendship Baptist Church – 402 Clinton St., Buffalo, NY 14204
  • Sat., March 10 from 11 AM – 1 PM

  • Black Butterfly Beauty and Salon – 2560 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14214
  • Sat., April 14, 2018 from Noon – 2 PM

  • Hopewell Baptist Church – 1301 Fillmore Ave., Buffalo, NY 14211

Bringing Cardio Vascular Health Awareness to Buffalo Community

Free and open to all community members, the “Working Together Towards Better Health’ Faith-Based Community Health & Wellness Events and the “Beauty Salon Community Health Event” will enable community members 18 years of age and older to participate in blood pressure self-screenings.

Community members will also receive toolkits and giveaways including:

Healthy Blood Pressure information; “Ask Me 3” and “Say Ah” pamphlets which provide information on how a patient can get the most from her/his visit(s) to the doctor; Smoking Cessation information; Medication Compliance information; Tips on Healthy Eating

Millennium Care Manager Pharmacists Esra Mustafa and Tera McIlwain  

In addition, Millennium Care Manager Pharmacists Tera McIlwain and Esra Mustafa will participate and provide health/medication-related information, and address questions community members may have.

Tera McIlwain holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from D’Youville College, and is a member of the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York, Inc. (PSSNY); the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP); and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). Esra Mustafa graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD, and has served as an Adjunct Instructor at the University at Buffalo.

As key members of Millennium’s new Care Coordination Support Team, Tera and Esra support Millennium’s Partners with medication adherence and reconciliation challenges that Medicaid patients may face.


Erie Niagara Area Health Care Education Center (ENAHEC), is a workforce development initiative which is part of the New York State Area Health Education Center System (NYS AHEC System). ENAHEC was formed in September 2003 to serve Erie and Niagara counties and is dedicated to creating a well informed and diverse health care workforce. The focus of ENAHEC is to address the health care needs of the community by connecting students, academic institutions, health care facilities and current healthcare professionals to the communities in need. Through partnerships and collaborations with various agencies, ENAHEC facilitates programs for high school, college and graduate school students, as well as provide continuing education for healthcare professionals. ENAHEC is now providing a series of professional development trainings that offer CME, CEU and OASAS credits.
