The University at Buffalo School of Nursing presented The Patricia H. Garman Award for Excellence in Service to Priti Bangia, Population Health Performance Manager, Millennium Collaborative Care; and Kinzer M. Pointer, Jr., Pastor of Agape Fellowship Baptist Church and Chair, Millennium Board of Managers.
The Patricia H. Garman Award was presented by Dean Marsha Lewis, PhD, RN, FAAN at the school’s Annual May Celebration held May 24, 2018 at the Delaware Park Marcy Casino in Buffalo. The award is given to an individual in recognition and in appreciation of their significant support and impact on the advancement of the UB School of Nursing. The award acknowledges outstanding contributions to the nursing profession embodying the mission, vision and values of the UB School of Nursing.
Priti Bangia and Pastor Pointer were recognized for their outstanding collaboration with the School of Nursing on Million Hearts® , a community-based cardiovascular health initiative led by Millennium Collaborative Care, in partnership with the University at Buffalo School of Nursing and Greater Buffalo United Ministries (GRUM). The program was co-lead by UB Nursing’s Dr. Susan Grinslade, and supported by UB Nursing students as a component of their curriculum. It received a 2016 Spotlight on Population Health Initiatives (SOPHi) Award by Population Health Collaborative at the 2nd annual SOPHi Awards.
