Millennium Collaborative Care and Olean General Hospital will host a free Million Hearts health screening June 15 during the hospital’s annual Strawberry Festival and Health Fair.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the hospital, 515 Main St., Olean. It will include screening stations for blood pressure, height and weight, and a Patient Activation Measure (PAM) Health Survey. Nutrition, fitness and health insurance information will be available.

Those 18 and other are welcome to get screened.

“The goal of our Million Hearts events is to help people understand and control their blood pressure,” said Priti Bangia, population health manager with Millennium Collaborative Care. “This is so important because blood pressure if not treated, can result in people having heart attacks and strokes.”

Millennium is a performing provider system designed to limit hospitalizations. Statistics show that every 43 seconds someone in the U.S. has a heart attack, and that one American dies every 4 minutes from a stroke.
