A highlight of the event was a presentation/discussion on “Health Literacy” by Pastor Pointer in partnership with Erie Niagara AHEC and Millennium. Health Literacy is the ability of an individual to understand and interpret the information provided by medical professionals. Unfortunately, many adults in the United States are not able to do this effectively, and their health suffers. The discussion focused on how individuals can promote healthy behaviors in their own congregations by learning more about the barriers communities face, how to get involved, and strategies to improve health outcomes in communities.
